Information about getting in touch with our churches and when to visit

The Diocese of Chelmsford is the Church of England in Essex and East London.

Led by the Bishop of Chelmsford, the Rt Revd Dr Guli Francis-Dehqani, we are one of the largest and most diverse dioceses in the Church of England consisting of more than 500 churches and worshipping communities and 138 church schools.

There is a Church of England church at the heart of every community. And each one puts its faith in action. Our churches run food banks and night shelters, host exercise classes, organise farmers markets, and so much more. Our churches belong to everyone. A church is more than bricks and mortar. It is a community of people who, together, live in relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

This site flags up some of the most interesting aspects of our churches as well as other interesting places to visit in Basildon Borough.

Basildon Borough is named after its largest town, which was designated a new town in 1949. Local attractions include: Barleylands Farm, Cater Museum, Cats Cradle Pussiwillow III Clock in Basildon's Eastgate Shopping Centre, Mill Meadows Nature Reserve, Mother and Child statue in Basildon, Noak Bridge Nature Reserve, Norsey Wood Nature Reserve, Langdon Nature Reserve, St Martins Bell Tower, and Wat Tyler Country Park.
